I used to have my base camp there for a long time and I think it's a very good place to settle. Try to sleep in a hammock and you'll never get any worm ever again. Since you mentioned wormes I highly recommend to change your sleeping habits. But one of the greatest benefits from the docks is the hammock.
There are a number of molinearia spots close to the docks (which maybe spawn tobacco and other herbs as well). What oasis do you mean? The one near to the fishing docks? Maybe you rather should move to the docks, I'd suggest.
